Description

Róbert Bárány (1876-1936) was an Austrian doctor of Hungarian descent and a university professor. In 1914, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his research on the inner ear.

Front: The front of the coin has the legend “MAGYARORSZÁG” at the bottom. The right field has a depiction of a spiral staircase, referring to the structure of the inner ear. The denomination, the legend “FORINT”, the mint mark “BP.” and the date “2014” are in the left field, in three horizontal lines justified to the curve of the spiral stairs.
Back:The back of the coin has the legend “NOBEL-DÍJ” and “1914”, separated by a period at the bottom. The legend “BÁRÁNY”, “RÓBERT” and “1876-1936” is located in the left field, in horizontal lines. In the right field, there is a portrait of Róbert Bárány, with the master mark of designer Fanni Vékony on his right shoulder.
