Description
György Békésy (1899 – 1972) was a Hungarian biophysicist, who lived in the United States. He was awarded the 1961 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for his research on the function of the cochlea in the mammalian hearing organ.Thanks to his research, we understand how humans hear. The principle of the audiometer which he developed continues to be used in hearing tests today.

The mark of Zoltán Endrődy, who designed the front of the coin, can be found to the middle right. The front has the mandatory elements, such as the legend “MAGYARORSZÁG”, the mint mark “BP.”, the date “2022” and the denomination “2000” and “FORINT”.
