Description

Part of the series World Heritage sites in Hungary
Hortobágy National Park was Hungary’s first national part, created by the National Nature Protection Authority on 1 January 1973. It has an area of 82,000 hectares. At its meeting on 30 November 1999, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee inscribed the entire area of the Hortobágy National Park on its list of World Cultural and Natural Heritage. The Directorate of the Hortobágy National Park is located in Debrecen. Hortobágy National Park is Central Europe’s largest grass steppe and comprises 4 land conservation districts and 19 independent natural conservation areas.

Front: In addition to the mandatory elements (the denomination: 3000 FORINT, the legend: MAGYAR KÖZTÁRSASÁG, the mint mark: BP. and the date: 2002), the front of the coin has an image of a typical Hortobágy T-shaped well.
