Description

Part of the series World Heritage sites in Hungary
The Early Christian Necropolis is an archaeological exhibition site near the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Pécs. It features burial chambers from the 4th century, where early Christians were interred. On 30 November 2000, the site was declared a part of UNESCO’s World Heritage.

Front: In addition to the mandatory elements (the denomination: 5000 FORINT, the legend: MAGYAR KÖZTÁRSASÁG, the mint mark: BP. and the date: 2004), the front of the coin has an image of a bronze piece forming the monogram of Christ.
Back:The back bears the legend “PÉCSI ÓKERESZTÉNY SÍRKAMRÁK”, the master mark of the designer, and a depiction of the so-called
“Pitcher burial chamber”.
