Description
Production of the animated series “Hungarian Folk Tales” started at the Pannónia Film Studio in Kecskemét in 1977. The 100 episodes, totalling 12.5 hours, present Hungarian folk tales in such an authentic manner that the series was added to the Collection of Hungarikums on 15 October 2020, as part of Hungary’s cultural legacy, with the following explanation: “The distinctive visual and musical world embodied in Hungarian Folk Tales and the accompanying narrative make this animated series a unique work. The kindness, humour, cunning and gaiety of the folk tales faithfully reflect the spirit, emotions and true character of the Hungarians. In addition to the above, the truths and fundamental values expressed in the episodes of Hungarian Folk Tales, which has earned great recognition within Hungary and abroad, make the series worthy of inclusion in the Collection of Hungarikums.” “The Diligent Girl and the Lazy Girl” presents archetypical figures from folk tales and the conflicts between them, high-lighting the basic truth that “good always gets its just reward”. This series of coins was launched in 2021 at the initiative of Ferenc Mikulás.
