Description
The 2008 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad and commonly known as Beijing 2008, was an international multi-sport event that was held from 8–24 August 2008 in Beijing, China. A total of 10,942 athletes from 204 National Olympic Committees.
Front: In addition to the standard attributes (the denomination: HUF 5,000, the legend: Republic of Hungary, the mint mark: BP and the date of issue: 2008), the obverse of the coin features the coat of arms of the Republic of Hungary, superimposed over a wavy line symbolising water.
Back:On the reverse of the coin, below the inscription ‘Games of the XXIX Olympiad’, a water polo player, raising his chest out of the water and preparing to throw the ball, is depicted.
