Description
The Hungarian Conquest in 895-896 was a key moment in Hungarian history.
Front: The front of the silver coin has the mandatory elements, such as the denomination “2000 Forint”, the mint mark “BP.”, the legend “Magyar Köztársaság” and the master mark, along with a ‘tarsoly’ bag plate from the Conquest period found in Szolnok-Strázsahalom. The bag plate features palm leaves which originate at the centre and continue intertwined, representing the continuum of life and eternal renewal.
Back:The back of the coin has the legend “896-1996”, along with the mythical ‘turul’ bird from Rakamaz gorget and Hungarian riders shooting backwards.
