Description

Margit Kovács (1902-1977) was a renowned, Kossuth award-winning Hungarian ceramic artist and one of the founders of modern Hungarian ceramic art. She created relief works and tiles, as well as working on the wheel and using coiling technique. She developed her own peculiar, finely nuanced color schemes in glazing. Her works focused on human beings in many different themes, including realistic portraits, small grotesque figures and Biblical compositions. Her works are renowned and sought after both in Hungary and abroad.

Front: The front of the coin has the mandatory elements (the denomination 3000 Forint, the circular legend Magyar Köztársaság, the mint mark BP. and the date 2002).
Back:The back bears the circular legend ‘KOVÁCS MARGIT 1902-2002’, along with an image of her work Ítéletnapi harsona (Trumpet of the Apocalypse) below which are her initials.
