Description
Ignác Alpár József (born Schöckl József; 17 January 1855 in Pest – 27 April 1928 in Zürich) was a Hungarian architect. Many of his buildings became determinant elements of the cityscape of Budapest. His most well-known work is the Hungarian National Bank’s building in Budapest.
Front: In addition to the mandatory elements (the denomination: 5000 FORINT, the legend: MAGYAR KÖZTÁRSASÁG, the mint mark: BP. and the date: 2005), the front of the coin has a stylised image of Hungarian National Bank building.
Back:The reverse features the portrait of Ignác Alpár, and the dates of birth and death of the architect.
