Description

The 9th coin in the series Hungarian engineers and inventors with a quadrangular shape!Ganz Ábrahám 1814-1867 was a foundry master and one of the founding father of Hungarian heavy industry. He established the first foundry in Buda in 1844. Based on his own patents, he manufactured shell cast railway wheels, parts for railway switches and mill rollers.

Front: The centre of the front features a depiction of the iron foundry established by Ábrahám Ganz, with his patented shell cast railway wheel in the foreground. The words “ALAPÍTVA: 1844” can be seen on the facade of the building. Along the top rim runs the legend “MAGYARORSZÁG” and the date “2014”, while the mint mark “BP.” is found at the bottom parallel with the left rim. To the right of the railway wheel stand two horizontal lines with the denomination “2000” and “FORINT”.
Back:The back of the coin bears a bust portrait of Ábrahám Ganz in the right field, with the master mark of designer Balázs Bitó located in the bottom right corner. The upper left corner has the horizontal text “GANZ” and “ÁBRAHÁM”, with the dates “1814–1867” running parallel to the left rim.
