Marking 500th anniversary of the birth of John Calvin (1509-1564). Part of the series European Cultural Heritage.
Front: The front of the coin has the mandatory elements (the denomination: 5000 Forint, the legend: Magyar Köztársaság, the mint mark: BP. and the date: 2009), along with the Christ monogram found on the pulpit of the Calvinist College of Debrecen.
Back:The centre of the back features a portrait of John Calvin, based on the painting by Hans Holbein. The outer ring has the circular legend “SOLI DEO GLORIA”, “KÁLVIN JÁNOS 1509-1564” and the so-called “Euro star” as the common emblem of the international coin series “EUROPA”, along with the master mark of designer Márta Csikai.
