Description
The 2000 Summer Olympics (XXVI Olympic Games) were held between 15 September and 1 October 2000 in Sydney, Australia. The venue was selected by the International Olympics Committee from five applicants on 23 September 1993. It marked the second time that Australia hosted the Summer Olympics. At these Games, 10,651 athletes from 200 nations took part.
Front: The front of this silver coin has the mandatory elements: the denomination 2000 Forint, the mint mark BP., the date 1999, the legend Magyar Köztársaság, the designer’s mark and the coat-of-arms of Hungary.
Back:The back has the legends ‘XXVII. NYÁRI OLIMPIA’ and ‘SYDNEY 2000’, along with a pictographic image of a hammer thrower.
