Description

The white stork (Ciconia ciconia) is a large wading bird, which figures prominently in folk culture. In 1980, 1981, 1994 and 1999, it was selected as the ‘Bird of the Year’ by the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society.

Front: The front of this silver coin has the mandatory elements: the denomination 200 Forint, the mint mark BP., the date 1992, the legend Magyar Köztársaság and the designer’s mark. The circular legend on the coin consists of Morse code spelling out S.O.S. and a globe covered with the letters S.O.S.
Back:The back has the legend ‘VESZÉLYEZTETETT ÁLLATVILÁG’, a circular legend of Morse code for S.O.S. along with a pair of nesting storks.
