Description
The Magyar Nemzeti Bank has issued a silver collector coin with a face value of HUF 5,000 to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sándor Weöres. By issuing the collector coin, the MNB continues its own tradition of issuing collector coins dedicated to outstanding figures of Hungarian literature.
Front: The obverse of the coin features a composition made from the letters of the name of Sándor Weöres. The legend ‘MAGYARORSZÁG’ is inscribed on the upper edge of the coin. The value numeral ‘5000’ and the inscription ‘FORINT’ appear in a circular legend on the lower part of the coin. The mint year ‘2013’ and the mint mark ‘BP’ feature on the centre line of the coin, on the left and right, respectively.
Back:The reverse of the collector coin bears a figure of Sándor Weöres dressed in a suit and sitting barefoot on the lower line of a square frame. The dates ‘1913’ and ‘1989’, marking the date of birth and death of Sándor Weöres, are positioned on the left and right of the frame, respectively. Below the frame the coin bears the ‘Euro-Star’, the joint emblem of the ‘EUROPA’ series of international collector coins. The initials of designer Zoltán Tóth are placed on right.
