Hungary’s traditional wine districts, with the proof circulation coins celebrating the Eger Wine Region. The coin series includes the entire set of denominations of the 2024 circulation coins. The packaging also included a 29.2-mm, non-ferrous coin.
The vineyards of the Eger wine region cover an area of about 5400 hectares and are located on the southern slopes of the Bükk Mountains. The wine-growing region is divided into two protected areas of origin: the Eger and the Debrő area, thus covering the city of Eger and 19 municipalities. The city of Eger and its surroundings are a famous historical wine region. Its inhabitants have been engaged in viticulture and wine production for almost a thousand years, producing wines such as Egri Bikavér, Egri Leányka, Debrői Hárslevelű, Egri Chardonnay, Egri Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, Egri Merlot, Egri Kékfrankos and Kékmedoc.
