Description
The 2018 IIHF World Championship Division I was an international ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Group A tournament was held in Budapest, Hungary from 22 to 28 April 2018. The coin set includes 5-10-20-50-100-200 HUF circulation coins in proof quality, minted in 2018. The new HUF 50 coin is identical with the HUF 50 coin in circulation with regard to its technical parameters. The obverse of the 50 forint coins to be issued is identical with that of the 50 forint coin denomination currently in circulation; however, replacing the usual saker falcon the thematic side features the most relevant scene in ice hockey where a player takes a shot on the goal. The figure taken from the emblem of the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation is also shown on this side of the coin. The reverse of the coin was designed by István Kósa.
