Description
Hungary’s current 200 forint coin was first issued ten years ago on June 15, 2009, and is Hungary’s highest value circulating coin. Creating the final version of the coin was not easy. It involved multiple variation and extensive testing. The Hungarian Mint is offering not more than 500 collectors in the world a sneak peak at some of what went into the final coin. It is offering a set of six coins: Five of them are trial pieces in a variety of sizes and metals. They were used extensively as test pieces in vending machines and have the inscription “MINTA” (sample). They are either undated or have the date 2009. The sixth, and the only uncirculated piece in the set is the final design, a 200 forint dated 2019.
