Description
In 2025, Formula 1 racing will return to the Hungaroring for the 40th time. To honour this important anniversary, HUNGARORING Sport Zrt. and the Hungarian Mint Ltd. are releasing a set of circulation coins that includes a unique commemorative coin.
The set contains all of the coin denominations issued as legal tender by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, from the 5-ft to the 200-ft coin, proof quality, with each coin bearing the mint date 2025.
In addition to the circulation coins in the special gift packaging, the front of the commemorative coin features a detail from the circuit of the Hungaroring, along with the circuit’s new emblem, while the back shows the logo for the 40th anniversary race and a view of race car, integrated into a chequered flag. The legend on around the image on the back reads “FORMULA 1 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX”, along with the year of the first race, 1986.
Gábor Kereszthury designed the packaging for the circulation set, using photographs by Gergely Makai; the special anniversary coin was designed by Zsolt Valent.
The commemorative coin has a diameter of 42 mm and is made of silver-plated brass.
