Description
In Hungary, the largest specialised institution for the education of blind and partially sighted children is the School for the Blind, consisting of the Methodology Institute, Kindergarten and Pre-school, Primary School, Special Vocational Training School, Resource Centre, Boarding School/Dormitory and Children’s Home. This institution established for the education of blind children has a rich heritage, as the framework for the institutional care of the blind and partially sighted has been in place in Hungary since 1825.

Back: On the back of the coin, the upper half divided by a horizontal line shows a schematic image of a detail from the facade of the building housing the School for the Blind. The bottom half of the back of the coin features the legend “200 ÉVES A VAKOK OKTATÁSA MAGYARORSZÁGON” (200 years of education for the blind in Hungary) in two lines, with the date “1825” in Braille script below, referencing the year in which the School for the Blind was founded. The master mark of the coin’s designer Mercédesz Dorisz Molnár is located on the back bottom near the edge.
