Description
The first independent Hungarian State Audit Office (SAO) was established in 1870. As the National Assembly’s independent financial controller, it has been monitoring public finances for one and a half centuries. Its operation was ended in 1949, but following the political transition in 1989, the State Audit Office has been the financial guarantor of Hungary’s democracy since 1 January 1990.

achievement, effectiveness, expediency) in block capitals and in hexadecimal code form. The dual nature of the anniversary is referred to with the repeating text around the coin’s edge: állami számvevőszék 1870 • 1990 • 2020. The coin was designed by the sculptor Balázs Pelcz.
