Integration into the European Union, silver commemorative coin
At the Luxembourg summit in 1997, the European Union decided to commence accession negotiations in 1998 with six countries, including Hungary. These negotiations started with ceremonies on 31 March 1998.
Front: The front of this silver coin has the mandatory elements: the denomination 2000 Forint, the mint mark BP., the date 1997, the legend Magyar Köztársaság, the designer’s mark and the coat-of-arms of Hungary.
Back:The back has the legends ‘INTEGRÁCIÓ AZ EURÓPAI UNIÓBA’ and ‘EURO’, along with the emblem of the European Central Bank and a view of the Palace in Buda.
