Description

György Hevesy (1885-1966) was awarded the Nobel Prize for his discovery of radioactive tracers and helped this technique to great success by exploring the main areas of its application, in particular in research on living organisms. With his discovery, he established a new branch of science: nuclear medicine.

Front: The central device on the front of the coin is a depiction of the use of György Hevesy’s Nobel Prize-winning discovery in the field of medical diagnosis.
The front of the coin shows the medical diagnostic application of Hevesy’s Nobel Prize winning discovery, schematically depicting the identification of an anomaly with radioactive isotopes, using a human form made of points (molecules) and pulsating circular lines to denote the radiation, which is enhanced on the silver coins with a rainbow effect. The front has the mandatory elements, such as the denomination “5000 FORINT”, the legend “MAGYARORSZÁG”, the date “2018” and a mint mark “BP.”.
Back:The central motif on the back of the coin is a profile portrait of György Hevesy, with “HEVESY GYÖRGY NOBEL-DÍJ 1943” as the upper legend, and
“A RADIOAKTÍV IZOTÓPOS NYOMJELZÉS KÉMIAI ALKALMAZÁSÁÉRT” as the bottom legend.
