Budapest Medal Series – Budapest State House Medal Our series of magnificent buildings, characteristic spaces and visions are presented by our series. The Parliament building is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The architectural masterpiece of Kossuth Lajos Square was designed by Imre Steindl, the building was built in Neo-Gothic style. The Parliament is Hungary’s largest building and the second largest parliament building in Europe. It was built in 1873 after the merger of Óbuda, Buda and Pest. The building was handed over in 1896, the year of the millennium of the founding of the state. This architectural masterpiece is home to the Hungarian Coronation Jewelry. The building is open to the public!

Front: The medal’s front has the legend “ORSZÁGHÁZ”, and depicts the Parliament.
Back:The back of the medal features a panorama of the Danube banks in Budapest, with the legend “BUDAPEST”. The panorama of the Danube banks in Budapest covers an area of sixty hectares and has been protected as a World Heritage site since 1987. The banks of the Danube from Margaret Island to the Szabadság Bridge are part of this heritage, including the architectural ensemble of the Buda Castle District, the Gellért Hill, the Szabadság statue, the Citadel and the Gellért baths on the Buda side, and the Parliament building, the headquarters of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Gresham Palace, the Vigadó theatre and the Belvárosi parish church on the Pest side. The mint mark BP. and the purity (.999) are found on the back of the medal.
