Description
The Hungarian Meteorological Service (OMSZ) celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. On 8 April 1870, Emperor Franz Joseph signed the founding document of the “Royal Hungarian Central Institute of Meteorology and Earth Magnetism”,initiating the establishment of this institution with the goals of investigating the climatic features of Hungary and organising and assessing meteorological measurements. The Service took it current name in 1970, on its 100th anniversary.
