The collector coin “Sándor Petőfi and the revolution and war of independence of 1848/1849” will be aviable in the webshop from 8:00 am on 12 April 2023

On 11 April 2023, the Day of Hungarian Poetry, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Sándor Petőfi, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank is issuing an especially large, 30,000-ft silver commemorative coin and a 7,500-ft non-ferrous version, honouring Petőfi’s work and also marking the 175th anniversary of the start of the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence.

Sales of the coin will start at 8:00 am on 12 April 2023, in a limited quantity exclusively in the webstore. The coin will only be available in the coin shop for pre-ordering parties, in accordance with the pre-order notification to be sent in the near future.

The start of sales is being delayed until 12 April for two reasons: 1) release of the issue announcement during the day on 11 April due to the Easter holidays; and 2) sale of the Petőfi commemorative coin will occur using the virtual queuing system that was introduced on the website penzvero.hu starting from 15 March 2023, which is activated on occasion for the sale of very popular, new products (issues of commemorative coins, other numismatic products).

The system begins operation one half hour prior to the start of sales, at 7:30 am on 12 April. 

At 7:30 am, the system will log all users out of the website. If you do not wish to purchase the Petőfi coin, please complete your purchase before 7:30 am. Users wishing to purchase the new coin should not log into the website before 7:30 am, as only users who log in between 7:30 am and 8:00 am will be added in the queuing system.

Upon the start of sales, the system randomly orders the customers who have logged in during the 30-minute lead-in period and begins directing them to the purchase page. Random ordering occurs automatically and cannot be influenced.

While the system is active, all users who log into the penzvero.hu website are queued in the online waiting area: after 30 minutes users who logged in during the 30-minute lead-in period are queued in random order, while users who log in later are assigned to the end of the current queue.

Upon logging into the penzvero.hu website, users are put in an “online waiting room”. This waiting room appears on the user’s screen and the system indicates their place in the queue and the approximate waiting time before the system allows the user onto penzvero.hu and the purchase process can begin. The approximate waiting time is an estimate by the system which may differ from the actual waiting time; the queue may also change (for example, if someone leaves the queue or finishes the purchase more quickly, etc.). We recommend continuously monitoring the current status for the entire waiting time.

After being admitted to the website, 15 minutes are available to finalise the purchase. As quantities are limited, being admitted to the website does not guarantee that the desired product is available. If the purchase transaction is not completed within 15 minutes, the system automatically terminates the connection.

After successful purchase, if the user does not log out and conducts some activity on the website, the system automatically relegates the user to the end of the queue again, enabling additional purchases.

If the user refreshes the browser while in the waiting room, it cannot be guaranteed that the user will retain the same spot in the queue. Consequently, we do not recommend refreshing the browser during the waiting period.

If the internet connection is interrupted or other technical problems occur on the user-side, it is possible that the user will be relegated to the end of the queue. There is no way to remedy this and complaints in this regard are not accepted.

Personal receipt and delivery of the pre-ordered coins is independent of the queuing system. It is possible to take personal receipt of the pre-ordered coins in coin shop from 8:00 am on 12 April 2023, and we will also begin delivery of pre-orders on that day.
